How To Find A Good Hairdresser In Your Local Area
Choosing a hairdresser in your local area can sometimes feel like a daunting task. However, it doesn’t have to be. Finding a good salon and hair stylist is all about doing a little bit of research and knowing what you want for your hair.
Step 1: Decide What Type Of Salon You Are Looking For
There are so many different types of salons to choose from that you first need to decide what you are looking for in a salon. Do you just want a straightforward hair place or are you looking for a beauty salon with the works? There are also several different types of hairdressing venues to consider such as:
Barber Shops: Barber shops specialize in cutting hair for men and some even offer a good shave.
Beauty Salons: Most beauty salons offer services in hair, nails, tanning and/or makeup services
High Street Salons: High street salons offer various things that beauty salons do and sometimes these salons offer other health beauty treatments as well. Often time these places are prestigious and cost a little more than your average salon.
Mobile Salons: Mobile salons come to you. This is often quite nice if you are homebound, in a wedding or if you want to get everyone in your household a haircut in one day. The UK has about 900 mobile beauty salons.
Budget Salons: This is your straightforward, no fuss hair place on a budget. They usually offer budget haircuts, color and styles.
Step 2: Research Salons In Your Area
Once you have decided on the type of salon and hairdresser you are looking for, you need to research the salons in your area. Go online or check out your local phone directory to find hairdressers. Once you have found several that you like, you can call them and see what services they offer and check out their price points. This will help you narrow down your choices.
Step 3: Schedule A Consultation
Once you have 3-4 salon choices in mind, you should call and schedule a consultation with the salons you chose. This will give you a chance to visit the salons, see their staff in action and ask any further questions. At your consultation you should be looking at the cleanliness of the establishment, how well the staff interact and treat customers, how well they provide services and the overall atmosphere. Be sure they meet your standards and offer the services you desire.
Lastly choose a salon and schedule an appointment. Your first appointment will let you see results and whether or not you truly like the hairdresser you chose. Be sure to let your hairdresser know your likes and dislikes. Also, keep in mind this is not a lasting contract. If you decide this isn’t the salon or hairdresser for you, go ahead and try another place. If you love your new salon, it is a good idea to remain faithful to your hairdresser to grow a good rapport and to have a hairdresser who truly knows your hair.
